We were founded on September 2, 1991, as an association of citizens dedicated to helping children undergoing cancer treatment at the Institute of Oncology and Radiology of Serbia
Children around the world are not immune to cancer. Although childhood cancer cases make up only a small percentage of the total compared to adults, it is still the second leading cause of death among children aged 0-15 in developed countries.
Understanding these diseases and working together as a community to provide modern treatment and care is a true measure of a society’s progress and compassion.
The most common cancers in children are blood-related diseases like leukemia and lymphoma, as well as solid tumors. Thanks to advances in medicine and collaboration among pediatric oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, psychologists, and other specialists, we can now permanently cure more than half of affected children and help them reclaim their childhood.
At the Pediatric Department of the Institute of Oncology and Radiology of Serbia, doctors, nurses, educators, and psychologists work tirelessly to go beyond medical treatment. With support from the ‘Always with Children’ Association, they organize activities to brighten the lives of children undergoing treatment. These include hospital visits from actors, poets, and children’s writers, as well as opportunities for children to explore and develop their talents.
On behalf of these children and their families, we want to inspire the same positivity that motivated us to create the ‘Always with Children’ Association.
Let’s not focus on the challenges faced by children with cancer. Instead, let’s come together to support and help them!
